I started by reading the book and creating mood boards to visualize its themes. Since the story is about an unfortunate mishap, I chose dark blue and a sunset orange to depict the night and the occurrence.
After finalizing the mood boards, I chose the first mood board because it depicted the story with the mountain scenery - a reflection of how where the cabin was located. However, I came up with a line drawing of a closer section of the mountain with a sunset.
For the back cover, I created a mountain scene with a cabin to give the reader a bit of an understanding of the location. Also a synopsis to give the reader a bite of what lies beyond the covers.
I also created a slash in the title. The word 'ambitious' would naturally be thought of in an upward manner, however the slash is in a downwards manner, (because we mostly read from left to right); to reflect the end of the guest :(.
